A Straight Career Path

Many students face the choice of whether to go straight into a career after school or whether to go into higher education. This choice has been made more difficult in some ways due to the new fees for attending university as many students do not know if they can afford to get a degree, even if they have the best annuities

There are, of course, both sides of the story and deciding to carry on with your education can depend on factors such as financial assets, grades at school, the ability to study further and what sort of job you hope to end up in.

Sometimes the financial consideration is the overriding factor as the student has to leave school to earn money straightaway.

Some jobs can only be accessed by taking a certain set of qualifications, whereas in others, you can start at the bottom and work your way up. It is worth talking all the options over with your career adviser at school as they will be able to tell you the best way to get into your dream job.

Only the student can make the final decision but they have to realise that whatever decision they take at this very young age will affect them for the whole of their life, so they have to choose wisely.
